Hi Guys…

Well we are up to Week 4 and look how far you have come. It was great to see so many of your parents at parent teacher and even better to hear that most of them have seen your blogs.

Today we are going to try something new. Instead of me writing your assignment for today on this post we are going to start working from the worksheets I will put up in the top left hand corner.

So today you are to open up the Olympics 1959 style worksheet and follow the prompts…Remember you are responding on a Page not a Post in your own blog.

Limpy Eulogy

Posted on April 20th, 2008 in Uncategorized by descotty

After Limpy escapes the plastic bucket he hides behind a tree to watch everyone in the swap, “…he was looking at Charm and Goliath and Mum and Dad for what was probably the last time. But he could not help it. Afterwards, when he’d wiped his eyes, Limpy saw the family were all crying too. They were gathered at the edge of the swamp with all the other rellies, and everyone was sniffing and dabbing at their eyes with dry bark or furry catterpillars…Limpy was much loved by us all…”

All of Limpy’s family think he is dead and yet we know he is not! He has a ‘virus’ and from here we are not quite sure what happens next. Imagine if this was it…

You have 2 task’s today…

_______________________________________________________________

You are to be either Mum, Dad, Charm, Goliath or Malcolm and prepare a eulogy for Limpy’s funeral.

Think about everything you know about Limpy already and depending which character you are going to be how will you word your speech. For example if you were Charm you might have a few funny brother sister stories to share, if you were Goliath you would talk about everything you ate together, if you were Malcolm you would lie and be sarcastic.

______________________________________________________________

You are to write 100 words for a response and try to include a picture before you publish…

_______________________________________________________________

NEXT you are to write a reply to this blog telling me what you think an ABSTRACT NOUN  is. You may google search the term in order to help you with your definition.

Toad Heaven

Posted on April 15th, 2008 in Uncategorized by descotty

It is time to start putting some good English work on your blogs…

Looking at this post you are complete the task set out.  To do this you are to log onto your own blog and creat a page titled Toad Heaven 1 and then type up your answer.

_______________________________________________________________

Your task

From where you have read up to in Toad Heaven you are to write a paragraph with your predictions as to how you think the novel will end.  I want to see correct spelling of names, capital letters and full sentences with lots of adjectives.

For example, I might write.

When Limpy woke up he realised he had been set free in a whole new exciting world: a national park. All around him was an exotic wilderness, so much better than the dark swamp. He knew at once that he must send for the others so he set out on the muddy track to find some help. A big white seagul was on the dirty path and Limpy asked him to go to the swamp and tell the others the exciting news. As the white seagul was also new to the park he fully agreed, he too thought it was a wonderful place. Flying quickly to the swamp he told the others, all the Rellies thought it sounded unreal and listened intently to the seaguls instructions on how to get there. They all hopped as fast as their little legs could carry them and soon joined Limpy. With a gleaming crown they declared Limpy king of the cane toads and they all lived in the park happily ever after.

See what a difference the adjectives make, if you can’t then re read what I have written without the adjectives.

Once you have written your paragraph you are to let your ‘buddy’ know and then you are to read each others and leave a comment on each others blog. You are to make one comment on the adjectives used and one comment on whether or not you think their prediction will turn out that way or not and why you believe it will or wont.

Homework: I would like to see someone from your home comment on your worksheet please…
